Workshop - Climate Change, Impacts on Employment and the Labour Market - Responses to the Challenges

The question of challenges and responses to climate change impacts on employment and the labour market was discussed by around fourty international trade unionists and researchers in a workshop in Brussels, March 25-26, 2010.

In November 2009 the Global Union Research Network (GURN) launched a call for papers for the workshop "Climate Change Impact on employment and the Labour Market - Responses to the Challenges" to be held 25-26 March 2010 in Brussels.

The call for papers included four different issues:

  • Social Consequences of Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation Measures

  • “Just Transition” Towards a Low Carbon Economy

  • Investment in Decent Green Jobs

  • Change in Production Patterns

Authors were invited to submit proposals for one of the issues. Among almost 40 proposals, ten papers were selected and presented at the workshop.

More to come.
