In November 2009 the Global Union Research Network (GURN) launched a call for papers for the workshop "Climate Change Impact on employment and the Labour Market - Responses to the Challenges" to be held 25-26 March 2010 in Brussels.

The call for papers included four different issues:

  • Social Consequences of Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation Measures

  • “Just Transition” Towards a Low Carbon Economy

  • Investment in Decent Green Jobs

  • Change in Production Patterns

Authors were invited to submit proposals for one of the issues. Among almost 40 proposals, ten papers were selected and presented at the workshop.

The organization and implementation of the Workshop was a collaborative effort between the ICFTU, TUAC, ACTRAV Geneva, ACTRAV Turin and the International Institute for Labour Studies at the ILO in response to the request from the International Labour movement to develop a global research network.
