This article is drawn from information contained in a draft working document prepared for an IFBWW Conference on Migrant and Cross-Border Workers in the Asia-Pacific Region, held in October 2002. The information has been gathered through surveys of the IFBWWaffiliated unions in the Asia-Pacific region. Based on the needs, experiences and case studies of IFBWW affiliates, it will contribute to a larger global study on migrant and cross-border workers, to be finalized by early 2003.
