In November 2009 the Global Union Research Network (GURN) launched a call for papers for the workshop "Climate Change Impact on employment and the Labour Market - Responses to the Challenges" to be held 25-26 March 2010 in Brussels.

The call for papers included four different issues:

  • Social Consequences of Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation Measures
  • “Just Transition” Towards a Low Carbon Economy
  • Investment in Decent Green Jobs
  • Change in Production Patterns

Authors were invited to submit proposals for one of the issues. Among almost 40 proposals, twelve papers were selected and their authors invited to the workshop in Brussels. Ten of these participated. The workshop brought together an international group of trade unionists and researchers. Papers were presented followed by discussions involving both trade unionists and researchers.
